With a lot of hard work and dedication by our UConn staff; our commercial affiliate rSmart; the support of our Governance Council members: Rich Gray, Nancy Bull, Lysa Teal and Dana Wilder; and the Kuali community at large, UConn is officially live in production with the Kuali Financial System. There have been many challenges along our journey to today and I am sure there are many unforeseen issues we will be addressing in the next few weeks and months. However, the fact remains that KFS is now the financial management system at the University of Connecticut and we would like to thank the University community for its support in getting us to this day.
As a reminder, the KFS implementation team has already begun the process of transferring financial data from FRS to KFS; as of this past weekend, many data points are already loaded, including the chart of accounts, vendors, customers, and budgets. Open purchase orders are currently being validated prior to loading them in the KFS production environment. As soon as this is complete, purchase order renewals for fiscal year 2013 will begin to be entered into KFS (target date to begin this is July 3, 2012) with the help of departmental staff under the direction of Procurement Services. When this process is finished, KFS will be opened to the University as a whole. As outlined in the original KFS Project Plan, the latest anticipated date for deployment is July 16, 2012.
Please note: “bumps in the road” during the first few weeks of system operation are expected, as you would have with any enterprise software implementation, so please be mindful of the fact that implementation team will be working diligently to fix any issues that may arise as quickly as possible. You can expect some delay in response from technical staff and subject matter experts in the first days after access is granted; however the implementation team will proactively keep you informed of any system-wide problems should they occur.
Thank you for working with the KFS project team during this exciting time. Please continue to be patient as we all adjust to this new system. You will be hearing from us again over the next several weeks with quick project status updates and other useful information. Please direct any immediate questions to: KualiFinancials@uconn.edu.
